On April 7th-9th, Lexington hosted the Creative Cities Summit, a conference that brought together leading practitioners who are changing cities and communities all over the world. Nearly 600 people attended this event and were inspired by the work described in the many sessions and keynote presentations. Others were inspired by folks they met & impromptu conversations in hallways or "meet-up" areas.

We hope you were able to attend the Summit, but whether or not you did, we hope you'll be a part of taking your inspiration to the next level, and applying it here, to Lexington!

On April 17th, ProgressLex and the Carnegie Center will host "Now What, Lexington?", an event designed to take the motivation and inspiration from the Creative Cities Summit and turn it into real, concrete action focused specifically on Lexington. This event will take place at the Carnegie Center, at 251 West 2nd Street

If you're a person excited about the possibilities of Lexington, come and help make those possibilities a reality.

If you're a non-profit trying to find more people excited about the great work you're doing, present a session about your organization. What better place to recruit new volunteers and spread the word about what you’re doing?

If you're a corporation trying to make a difference in Lexington, present a session and let the community know.

If you’re a current or aspiring local leader, come and hear what Lexingtonians are passionate about.

The event is FREE and open to everyone.

This event will run a bit differently than traditional conferences. Specifically, it will be an unconference.

What is an unconference?

Unconferences are unique in that they have no set agenda. They also encourage all attendees to participate, not just observe. In these unstructured sessions, participants are encouraged to share their thoughts and brainstorm ideas of how, together, we can make a REAL difference in OUR city.

If you’re an organization trying to make a difference in Lexington, present a session about the work you're doing! If you’ve got a passion or an idea about what Lexington could do better, organize a session around that passion to find others with similar interests! What better place to find like-minded changemakers or spread the word about what you’re doing and thinking?

Together, participants will create the agenda the morning of the conference. We'll begin with a wall with a blank schedule for the day. We’ll have 6-10 rooms and six, 45-minute sessions. We’ll even provide a few projectors. Simply add your presentation to the wall to be included in the agenda. See a similar presentation? Offer to join forces. Think one perspective isn’t represented? Organize a session to talk about it. Other participants will use the wall to plan their day and vote with their feet. Participants can choose their sessions and are not obligated to stay the entire time. If you find yourself interested in two coinciding sessions - feel free to divide your time. There's only one rule: No spectating!
